PCINU BELANDA 3rd BIENNIAL INTERNATIONAL CONFERENCE: REIMAGINING RELIGION AND VALUES IN TIME OF (SOCIETAL) CRISIS

ABOUT

This conference is organized by the Special Branch of Nahdlatul Ulama for the Netherlands (PCI NU Belanda) in collaboration with the Vrije Universiteit Amsterdam. This event is also in cooperation with the Ministry of Religious Affairs of the Republic of Indonesia, the Indonesian Embassy in The Hague, NL Alumni Network Indonesia, Netherlands – Indonesia Consortium for Muslim – Christian Relations (NICMCR), and Al-Hikmah Mosque in The Hague. The conference aims to bring together scholars, researchers, and activists to discuss relevant ideas concerning the topic and sub-topis of the conference. The objectives of this conference are:

  1. To discover, develop, and reimagine the understanding of the role of religion,
  2. To examine how far a crisis can shape the lived religion and to what extent it can advance the reinterpretation of gender roles and women’s rights,
  3. To understand the role of religion in creating awareness to its adherence to the danger of environmental degradation as well as further align and promote on conserving the environment,
  4. To review the relation and significance of the crisis in the past-colonialism-discourse and practice in contemporary affairs and,
  5. To evaluate science, innovation, and progress of its contribution and application in aspects such as ethical and moral compliance toward living beings and the natural world.

Notification of abstract acceptance: 30 April 2022

Full paper submission deadline: 15 May 2022
